A total of 93 candidates are standing but almost half of them did not provide the NSW electoral commission with a publicly available phone or email address.
Makes me wonder how serious they were.
I asked those with an email address to send me 100 words on why someone should vote for them.
That dropped off quite a few more.
I told them I was a journalist and their answers would be published.
Most likely, none of them had ever heard of me, but I figured the candidates serious about getting elected would reply, simply out of courtesy.
Because, as this website says, I will be watching the newly elected council on behalf of residents.
So it’s good to get on record what the candidates said they stand for. I’ll be able to check back and see if they kept their word.
I also asked if they had, or would, sign the Fitzgerald Principles of Good Governance.
