Central Coast Council Watch

Speak up on six cities

April 13, 2023 by Merilyn Vale

As one of the SIx Cities, the Central Coast is part of the community that is being consulted on …… how we want to be consulted.
The Greater Cities Chief Commissioner, Geoff Roberts, says the Commission is planning Australia’s first global multi-city region.
And part of that role involves coordinating and guiding the development of the six cities.
The Commission’s role includes setting regional planning standards and policies, addressing issues such as housing, urbanisation, transportation, and environmental sustainability.
Mr Roberts says community knowledge is critical.
Currently open for community input is a draft Community Participation Plan.
It sets out when, where and how people can have a say in “collectively shaping” the multi-city region.
“Its guiding principles focus on meaningful engagement, accessibility and inclusion, and transparent decision making,” Mr Roberts said.
“It is our commitment to you that your voice will be heard and help shape both your city and our global multi-city region.”
The draft Community Participation Plan is on public exhibition from April 3 – May 7.
Submissions should be sent to engagement@gcc.nsw.gov.au or the Chief Executive Officer, Greater Cities Commission, PO Box 257, Parramatta, NSW, 2124.
