Nearly $26M will be spent on the new Gosford Regional Library over the next two years, according to the Central Coast Operational Plan now out on public exhibition.
Council plans to have the building completed and open to the public by June 30, 2024.
The Library, to be built at 123A Donnison St, Gosford, is the big ticket item of major projects outlined in Council’s three year operational plan.
The plan includes council’s key performance indicators, capital works program and fees and charges.
The documents show 40 pages of capital works due to start at the beginning of the new financial year which starts on July 1.
Council said the program is targeted at renewal and upgrade works to existing assets, with 84.5 per cent or $142.2M focussed on renewals and upgrades of existing assets in year one.
“This allocation allows Council to maintain and renew existing assets and to address the asset backlog,” Council said.
Council has budgeted $26.0 million, or 15.5 per cent of the capital works program, in year one, for new and regionally significant assets.
The library will take up $14.3M of that in the first year.
The second year Council has allocated about the same ($26.3M) and fractionally less in year three ($23.1M) for new assets.
The library will take up $11.6M of that in the second year but has no money allocated to it in the third year when it should be up and running.
Other highlights of the program include:
- $10M will be spent each year for the next three years on vehicle acquisitions for the plant and fleet unit.
- A major upgrade to Mardi Water Treatment Plant will see grant funding of $9.5M in year one; $44M in year two and $5.4M in year three.
- Residents in Lakedge Ave, Berkeley Vale will see Roads and Drainage Infrastructure works to the tune of $2.2M in year one; $2M in year two and $2.3M in year three.
- More than half a million ($590,000) will be spent on Escarpment Stabilisation at Umina Beach for Greenhaven, Homan and Castle roads.
- The Peninsula Leisure Centre at Woy Woy will finally get its air conditioning replaced in year one for almost $2M.
- The construction of the ex-HMAS Adelaide Memorial, Terrigal Haven, which has been on the cards for almost a decade but still hasn’t got development approval, has money earmarked in year three: $63,952 from general revenue.
- And the Renewal of Memorial Park Gosford is on the list but has no money allocated in any of the three years.
The operational plan is open for public comment until June 21. The list of capital works starts on p113. Read it here:
