The Business NSW Central Coast Economic Breakfast 2023 last week discussed the importance of “catalytic infrastructure” to the growth of the Coast.
Nearly 300 business leaders were “glued to their seats” as Business NSW showcased an “incredible” line up of speakers to discuss the performance of the Central Coast and the opportunities for innovation and growth, according to Paula Martin, from Business NSW.
“As the Central Coast looks forward to progress of its own city significant infrastructure including the Gosford Waterfront and CBD Reinvigoration, catalytic aviation and transport projects underway in neighbouring regions will change how Central Coast business can innovate, scale and grow,” Ms Martin said.
“In the next few years the Western Sydney International Airport, Newcastle Airport Pty Limited and Port of Newcastle will present incredible opportunities for Central Coast business to accelerate inbound and outbound tourism, new export markets and a focus on renewable, clean energy business.
“Our very own Central Coast Aero Club has big plans for being a leading pilot training facility,” she said in a Linkedin post.
The breakfast included a panel discussion about the role of transformational transport and aviation projects in helping the Central Coast to compete, innovate and scale.
The Warnervale Aero Club’s facebook page says that CEO/president Andrew Smith was invited as one of the panelists and that he discussed how the Aero Club and Warnervale Airport can become a vital part of the Central Coast business landscape.
Chief Economist Craig James of CommSec spoke about interest rate rises and house prices.
Liesl Tesch, Member for Gosford and the newly appointed Minister for Central Coast David Harris were both there.
Other speakers included Stephanie Jones from the Greater Cities Commission, Scott MacKillop from Western Sydney International Airport, Dr Peter Cock from Newcastle Airport Pty Limited, Craig Carmody from the Port of Newcastle , Dr Alice Howe from Central Coast Council, and Barbara Ketley, CEO of marketing business Milestone-Belanova in East Gosford who spoke about the opportunities for the Central Coast and business.
Also last week, the Council held a meeting with pollies and developers.
