Council has put together a list of projects it would like money for.
Council is calling it a Key Enabling Projects Prospectus – or perhaps a catchy title might be Council’s Christmas wish list.
Council is asking for:
.
.
# $325m to get Gosford waterfront revitalised (and that’s after another $8.5M to see if it’s feasible).
State Labor has already promised to provide the $8.5M if elected in March next year. The State Government has not joined the fray at this stage.
.
.
# $12m ($3M per year for four years) for roads
.
.
# $10m just for Wisemans Ferry Rd
In February 2012, two sections of road embankment failed on Wisemans Ferry Road at Gunderman. As a result of the high cost of reinstating the two travel lanes a semi-permanent closure of one lane at both sites remains in place. As a result of the natural disasters and storm events of 2022, a number of sites
along Wisemans Ferry Road experienced significant damage to the road pavement and embankments with landslides and rockfalls occurring at multiple locations.
.
.
# $5.1m to finish off Tuggerawong pathway
.
.
# $18m for Gwandalan Sewage Treatment Plant
.
.
# $12.5m for Bateau Bay Sewage Treatment Plant Augmentation
.
.
# $4m for Tuggerah Lakes
The project includes project management and administration, improved planning controls, enhanced wrack and algae collection, priority wetland and foreshore restoration works, stormwater management, community engagement, education and empowerment, partnerships, catchment improvement works, recreational amenity upgrades, groundwater treatment trial and Water Sensitive Urban Design planning.
Project Commencement Date – July 2023.
Project Completion Date – June 2027.
.
.
# $8.4m for Colongra Sporting Complex
Preliminary site preparation works were completed during 2018 -2020: The civil design for the intersection, access road, sporting fields,
netball courts and carpark were finalised and approved by Council in 2020/21.
The airport at Warnervale is included in the wish list ($20m) as is Warnervale Business Park ($58m) – see a separate story in latest news.
The Lake Munmorah Recreation Facility Construction ($2.4m) and the refurbishment of The Entrance Esplanade Board Walk ($0.5m) is pocket money in comparison.
The prospectus has been prepared so Council can “advocate for investment” ahead of the upcoming NSW Election in March 2023.
In it, Council is describing the coast as “a region on the rise” and “a metro satellite to both Sydney and Newcastle”.
The prospectus is to be tabled at the November 22 meeting.
Council staff are seeking Administrator Rik Hart’s authorisation to publish the report for use in “stakeholder” engagement and for public consumption.
