The councillors will vote on Monday, April 23, on who will be offered the role of CEO after 111 applications were received for the job.
Of the 111, seven applicants were put forward to the selection panel and five made it to the short list.
On the selection panel were the Mayor, Jane Smith, and councillors Chris Holstein, Chris Burke, Jillian Hogan and a representative from the recruitment agency.
On April 11, a number of those shortlisted applicants – the council agenda does not specify how many – were invited to give a formal presentation. Thirteen of the fifteen councillors were present.
The recommended candidate remains confidential.
Once the council votes, the nominated applicant will be offered the role.
The council were in the process of searching for a long term CEO when CEO Brian Bell resigned early this year and was replaced on Australia Day by governance manager Brian Glendenning who has been acting CEO since then.
